Chief Executive Officer and Director
Stefan Ortmanns, Ph.D. is the chief executive officer of Cerence, the global industry leader in conversational AI for mobility. An accomplished voice and automotive technology executive, he most recently led Cerence’s Core Products business as executive vice president & general manager following the company’s separation from Nuance Communications in 2019. Ortmanns joined Nuance in 2003 and served in a variety of senior management and engineering roles, including executive vice president & general manager of the company’s Automotive Division. Prior to that, Ortmanns held positions at Philips Speech Processing, Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies, and the University of Technology Aachen. Ortmanns holds degrees in mechanical engineering, computer science and a Ph.D. in computer science from RWTH Aachen University.

Chief Transformation Officer and CIO
As Chief Transformation Officer and CIO, Bridget Collins is responsible for business transformation and operations, leading our Global Technology Solutions and Quality Management teams. A seasoned executive, Bridget is a strategic partner to leaders across Cerence, focused on delivering value and driving cross-functional initiatives that are aligned with our business and strategic goals. Prior to joining Cerence, Bridget served as Nuance Communications’ Vice President, Information Technology, where she was responsible for the full suite of business applications and developed and managed Nuance’s Program Management function serving IT, security, the transformation office, and M&A/divestiture activities. Previously, Bridget held IT leadership positions at Progress Software and was in development at Daly & Wolcott (now Infor). She holds a BS degree from Providence College and an MBA, High Technology, from Northeastern University.

Chief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer, Tom Beaudoin is a strategic partner to Cerence leadership and the Board of Directors, focused on accelerating growth, improving operating results and creating sustainable, long-term value. As a member of the Cerence Board of Directors since the company’s inception in 2019, and as the former head of Business Transformation at Nuance Communications leading the spin-out of Cerence, Tom has an extensive track record with Cerence and the automotive and software industries. Tom most recently served as Chief Transformation Officer of Qualifacts. Previously, he served as Chief Financial Officer for SimpliVity, where he helped orchestrate its successful sale to Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and served as Executive Vice President and CFO at Nuance for seven years, where he led all financial, IT and administrative functions. He earned both his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration degrees from Babson College.

Senior Vice President and General Counsel
As SVP and General Counsel, Jennifer Salinas serves as strategic advisor and leads the legal organization in a wide range of matters, including intellectual property, litigation, labor and employment, corporate governance, strategic transactions, and regulatory and compliance. Prior to Cerence, Jennifer was Head of Litigation at Lenovo, the largest PC company worldwide, and General Counsel of the Infrastructure Solutions Group a $7 billion Lenovo business unit. Her extensive background also includes 20 years of experience, including ten years as a Partner, at several prominent law firms. Jennifer is the former President of the Hispanic National Bar Association, and has received numerous awards and recognitions throughout her career. Jennifer earned her Juris Doctor degree in Law from Loyola University Los Angeles, graduating cum laude and in the order of the coif, and a bachelor’s in Political Science from San Diego State University.

Dr. Ir. Christophe Couvreur serves as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cerence’s core products, responsible for product management and working in lockstep with our R&D and professional services teams worldwide. Prior to his product leadership roles at Cerence, Christophe served in a variety of senior positions at Nuance Communications in research, engineering, project/program management and general management, all focused on bringing innovative speech and AI products to market in the Automotive, Mobile and Gaming areas. Before Nuance, Christophe worked at Lernout & Hauspie Speech Products, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and the Belgian National Fund for Scientific Research. He also served as a Lieutenant in the Belgian Air Force. Christophe holds a PhD in Applied Science from Faculté Polytechnique de Mons (Belgium), MSc's in engineering from UIUC and in mathematics from UCL, and an MBA from Vlerick Business School.

SVP, R&D and Services
As Senior Vice President for Research, Development and Services Udo’s team develops the Cerence core technology engines like ASR, NLU and TTS, as well as our Speech Signal Enhancement technology (SSE). On top of those core engines, Udo’s team is also responsible for the cloud platform that serves millions of transactions each month around the globe, and for our edge platform, that eases the car integration of emerging use cases for Tier1s and OEMs. Udo has over 20 years of experience in the area of Automotive UI, and joined the Nuance in 2011. Prior to that he was CTO of SVOX, leading the speech group at Harman, and had various management positions at Daimler. He holds Ph.D. and M.Sc. degrees in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Ulm, where he is still giving lectures.

As Chief Revenue Officer, Egon Jungheim is responsible for our worldwide sales organization and sales engineering teams. Prior to joining Cerence, Egon was Vice President of Automotive Sales at Nuance Communications, where he also previously served as Vice President of EMEA Sales, Mobile & Consumer Electronics and Vice President, Sales for Nuance’s Enterprise business in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Prior to joining Nuance in 2003, Egon worked as General Manager and Vice President Sales, Europe at Dictaphone Corporation and in several Senior Management positions at Northern Telecom/Nortel and Nixdorf Computer AG. He got his start in the speech industry in 2000 at Lernout & Hauspie.

A seasoned technology executive, Prateek Kathpal serves as Cerence’s Chief Technology Officer. In this role, Prateek is responsible for Cerence’s technology vision, R&D, and professional services, as well as the company’s user research and experience group. Prior to joining Cerence, Prateek served as General Manager of AI & IoT Products at View, responsible for leading product strategy, defining and driving the product roadmap, and supporting M&A activity to accelerate growth. Prior to View, he served as VP of Product & Solution Management at Polycom; Chief Strategy Officer at HighQ; and, VP of Product Strategy at Accusoft, which acquired Adeptol, a company Prateek founded. Prateek holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Instrumentation & Process Control.

As EVP & Chief Strategy Officer, Charles leads the development and realization of Cerence’s strategy and vision, including organic and non-organic initiatives, in support of the CEO and in partnership with Cerence’s board of directors and senior management. Prior to being promoted to this role, Charles served as Cerence’s Senior Vice President and GM, Mobility and IoT Technology; before the company’s spin from Nuance Communications, Charles was President, Greater China Region. Previously, Charles served in a variety of senior management roles in the internet communications and telecommunications industry globally, including CEO & President of Ubee-AirWalk; SVP & GM, Asia of ADB Holdings; General Manager, Wireless at Ericsson (formerly Nortel); and Executive Director of Technology at AT&T. Charles has an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and holds a dual bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and computer science from Southern Methodist University.

As chief marketing and communications officer, Rick Mack leads global marketing strategy, customer engagement, brand management, and program execution for Cerence across all stakeholders, channels and geographies. In this role, he manages an ever‑evolving blend of media relations, marketing, employee communications, financial communications, social media, public affairs, and branding activities. Prior to Cerence, Rick served in a number of roles at Nuance Communications, most recently as senior vice president of Corporate Marketing and Communications where he directed worldwide, integrated programs to support the company’s growth, innovations, and corporate development initiatives. Prior to Nuance, Rick held senior communications roles at RSA Security, Mirror Image Internet, and several Boston‑area communications firms. He holds an economics degree from Connecticut College.

As Cerence’s Chief Human Resources Officer, Sachin Sahney is responsible for global employee programs, recruitment, and HR operations. Prior to joining Cerence, Sachin served as Nuance’s Vice President, Human Resources. Previously, Sachin held human resources leadership roles at Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana, and Pfizer, where he worked closely with the organizations’ executive teams to drive employee engagement, improve talent acquisition, and inspire human capital advancements across the globe. Sachin holds a B.A. from The Delhi University and MBA from New Hampshire College.

Sujal Shah

As VP & GM of Professional Services, Sujal is responsible for delivering innovation in products and services for Cerence’s automakers and tier-1 customers. A results-oriented leader with more than 23 years of experience in designing and developing AI-powered, embedded and cloud-based in-vehicle infotainment, ADAS and Android Automotive systems, Sujal joined Cerence from HARMAN International’s Connected Services Business Unit, where he most recently served as Vice President, Innovation Services. Prior to HARMAN, Sujal held various leadership roles at Alpine Electronics of America, Nissan North America, and DaimlerChrysler Corporation. Sujal holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Bombay, India, and a Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering from Wayne State University.

Siva Subramanian, PhD, serves as Cerence’s SVP of Connected AI & Mobility. In this role, he is responsible for product management of connected AI solutions for new, emerging mobility markets. Siva has a strong track record of creating and delivering products for automotive, mobility and telecom and expanding into new growth areas. Prior to joining Cerence, he was Vice President of Connected Automotive Solutions at HARMAN and founded Care-In-Sync, a mobile cloud collaboration company (acquired by Hearst in 2014). Siva holds a PhD in Computer Engineering from North Carolina State University, as well as master’s and bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
